TRAINERS/SKILLS INSTRUCTORS:

LEE SWINSCOE:
Lee Swinscoe is an accessibility specialist with Universal Designers and Consultants.  Coach Swinscoe has been a SPark trainer since 2003.  He has also coached for Pegasus and Maryland’s High Performance Hockey Center.  Coach Swinscoe began his hockey career in 1986 in South Africa where he played both boys field hockey in high school and played for the Ixopo Village adult team.  Coach Swinscoe was selected for the Natal Midlands U/19 Team in 1995 and played for Natal Technikon in 1996 while studying.  He then moved on to England where he played for Oxton Hockey club from 1996-1997 and for Bebington from 1997-1998.  In the U.S., Coach Swinscoe played for Mavericks Field Hockey Club from 2000-2006; represented DC Metros during the four seasons of the North American Premiere League; played for the New York Islanders Field Hockey Club from 2003-2009; and today plays for the DC Dragons.

JESSE LARSON:
Jesse began his field hockey career in 1995 as a member of the Baltimore Field Hockey Association.  He continued as a college player at Salisbury University’s club team from 1997-2001.  Between 2001-2004, Jesse played for the DC Dragons and then was named to the U.S. Indoor Team where he played in the Pan Am Indoor Cup in Venezuela in 2004, in 2006 in Canada where the team won a Bronze metal, and again in 2008 in Argentina winning the Gold.  Between 2005-2006, Jesse played for the Menzieshill Hockey Club in Scotland and was named the U.S. Outdoor Squad in 2006.  In 2007-2008, Jesse also has extensive coaching experience including men’s head coach at St. Andrew’s University, JV head coach at Elizabeth Seton High School, head coach of AMVJ Amsterdam’s youth program and Varsity coach at Atholton High School.  Jesse currently coaches Varsity field hockey at the Severn School in Severna Park, MD.  Jesse is currently also a member of the US Mens National Indoor Team.





COACHES:
BETZ WILD:
Coach Wild is a Physical Education teacher at the Severn Lower School.  Betz has coached both indoor and outdoor Spark teams for twelve years, taking SPark teams to Festival, Disney and the National Indoor Tournament.  At the NITs, her teams have finished first in the U16 A pool in 2007, 1st in the U14 pool in 2008, 2nd in the U19 C pool in 2009 and 1st in the U12 pool in 2015. Betz began her playing career at Severna Park High School, winning the Maryland State Championship in 1980 and 1981, serving as captain her senior year.  She was a member of Salisbury University’s National Championship team in 1986 and still plays field hockey in the Anne Arundel County Summer Recreation league with her team which captured four of six championships in Anne Arundel County. Betz was inducted into the Severna Park High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.  Betz is currently the Head Coach for Varsity field hockey at the Severn School in Severna Park, MD.  She also coaches youth teams for Green Hornets Field Hockey and Girls Lacrosse.

MOIRA LEAVITT:
Moira began her coaching career as an Assistant Coach for Villanova’s Field Hockey Team and then as the inaugural coach at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island.  Coach Leavitt moved on as Head Coach at Norfolk Academy, Seton Keough High School and was Head Lacrosse Coach at Spalding High School.  Moira played field hockey for William Smith College where she played in two National Championships and was selected to the All-American team in 1987. Moira is the Club Director and coaches for the Integrity Lacrosse Club when she is not coaching field hockey.  Coach Moira is also an official for youth and high school field hockey.

SHANNON GARDEN:
Coach Garden is a former county defensive All-Star.  Coach Shannon has been coaching Field Hockey locally for 15 years. She is an Assistant Coach of Archbishop Spalding's Varsity Field Hockey team and head coach for Spalding's JV Lacrosse team.  Coach Shannon is also an accomplished youth and high school field hockey official presiding over several post-season and championship games. 

CARISSA MESSIMER HYMAN:
Coach Hyman is an attorney at Council, Baradel, Kosmerl & Nolan, P.A. in Annapolis, Maryland.  Carissa is a graduate of the University of Maryland (2004) and the University of Baltimore School of Law (2008).  A four-year starter on the field hockey team for the Terrapins, Carissa was a two-time All-American and earned the Kate Kauffman Award for Most Outstanding Field Hockey Player in 2002, as well as the Susan B. Tyler Award in 2003, naming her the University of Maryland Female Athlete of the Year.  While at Maryland, Carissa played on a team that amassed a four-year record of 80-14, won three ACC titles, reached the NCAA semifinals three times and captured the 1999 National Championship over Michigan on Carissa’s game-winning goal.  Carissa also served as a student assistant coach for the Terrapins following her senior season.  Before college, Carissa played field hockey at Crestwood High School in Mountaintop, PA where she was a two-time NFHCA All-American and a three-time Pennsylvania All-State selection.  Her 49 goals in 1998 was a Pennsylvania high school single-season record and her 145 career goals set the Pennsylvania career high school scoring record; in 1998 she also clenched the third-highest career total ever recorded by a U.S. high school player.  Carissa has played on U.S. National teams since 1997, and was a member of the U.S. Senior National Team in 2003/2004.   Carissa is currently a member of the US Womens National Indoor team.

KIM DELLA:
Coach Della played field hockey and lacrosse in high school.  Coach Della conitinued her lacrosse career at the University of Maryland for 4 years and played in the NCAA Division 1 Narional Championship game.  She has been coaching for Bays field hockey and lacrosse for the last 5 years.  Coach Della is a reading teacher at Folger Mckinsey Elementary School.

CASEY POHLMEYER:
Coach Pohlmeyer played for SPark FHC for 7 years, and in those years her team earned 3 pool wins at NITs.  One of them being in the A pool and the other in the B pool.  In 2007, she played on the SPark U19 and U16 teams that won the National Club CHampionship in PA.  Her team won a Festival championship in 2007 where she played with her sister.  In high school, she was a 4 year varsity player at Severna Park High School and has 4 consecutive state championships.  Her high school accolades:  First Team All State, All County and made the NFHCA All Region South Team her senior season.  She played Futures for 12 years.  She participated at NFC 6 years and went to Junior Olympics 2 years.  Casey was also a Futures Elite participant and played on the New England High Performance team.  Casey currently just finished her senior fall season at the University of New Hampshire, she was a 2 year captain and her team won their conference all 4 years.  UNH won playoffs twice, one being this past season!  Casey's collegiate accolades include First Team All Conference for America East (2x) 2012 and 2013, All-Academic Team 2013, Second Team All Conference 2011, All Rookie Team in 2010.  Casey was recently selected to the NFHCA All Region First Team for New England and was chosen to compete in the NFHCA Senior Game in Virginia Beach this year.  She is currently studying Mathematics and will start graduate school next semester to get her Master's degree in Education.  Casey played on the 2012 USA National Indoor Team.  Casey has been coaching for SPark for the past seven years and is excited for another successful season!  She has a passion for indoor field hockey and really loves the way SPark plays - "It make me very happy to be coaching this season!"

JOE BORNEMAN:
Coach Borneman was an All-state baseball player in High School and went to West Chester University to play baseball.  Coach Borneman played Club Ice Hockey for West Chester University.  He transfered to Universtiy of Maryland and played Club Ice Hockey for the University.  During college he volunteered to coach at beginner hockey clinics throughout MD and continued after he had graduated.  Coach Borneman is a USA Hockey Certified Coach and coached the Howard Ice Hockey Travel Club Team.  He was introduced to field hockey 5 years ago and coached at the Junior Level for Crofton.  This past season, his team won the Junior B County Championship.   Coach Borneman is also a 2x Ironman triathlete, in 2012 he will be competing in his third, Ironman Arizona.  

SHANNON HANRATTY:
Coach Hanratty is a former player and assistant coach at Salisbury University. Coach Hanratty earned a degree in Mathematics with track in Secondary Education while at Salisbury. She attended graduate school at SU and completed her Masters Degree in Education while serving as the Assistant Coach from 2012-2014.  Shannon was a 4 year starter on defense for Salisbury University (2008-2012) and won 3 Capital Athletic Conference Championships, 2009 NCAA DIII National Championship, All-CAC, ECAC Mid-Atlantic All-Star, 14 career defensive saves (nationally ranked tie - 4th junior year with 11 def saves), 2011 Senior Co-Captain.  While coaching at SU, the team won another CAC title and p[layed for the DIII National Championship in 2013.  Shannon was a 3 year starter at Broadneck High School where she was named All-State, All-Metro, All-County and the BHS Defensive MVP. Shannon also played for SPark and attended Festival during high school.  
Coach Hanratty is a USAFH Level 1 Accredited Coach and has coached Futures at the Severn site.  Currently, Shannon is the Head JV and Asst Varsity Coach for the Old Mill HS Field Hockey team which recenty won the 4A North Regional Championship.  Coach Hanratty is a math teacher at Old Mill HS.

TOM JESTER:
15 years coaching experience.  Seton Keough High School – 5th year Varsity Field Hockey Coach / 2008 – 2012.  He coached the IAAM B Conference State Champions in 2012.  He had a 13-0 record with 54 goals scored and 0 goals scored against. Also, Coach Jester has coached Club Hockey for 4 years.  He has had 2 Silver Medals at National Tournaments.  In 2011 and 2012, his team won the MD Club Championship Tournament.

MARIELLE ZIBMAN:
Coach Zibman played for Rutgers University in New Jersey where she was a four year letter winner for the Scarlet Knights (2004-2008), earned Big East Academic All-Star in 2006 and 2007 and earned a defensive starting position.  Coach Zibman began her coaching career with the Futures Developmental program during her freshman year of college.  The New Jersey native was an assistant coach at Moorestown High School from 2010-12 where she helped lead the team to two state semifinals.  In 2009, Zibman completed a Masters in Special Education from The College of New Jersey.  In 2013, Coach Zibman moved to Maryland where she is now a Special Education teacher in Baltimore County, and an assistant field hockey coach at Johns Hopkins University.

KATIE MATTEO:
Coach Matteo is a recent graduate of Salisbury University where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Physical Education and a Minor in Health. Katie played field hockey at Salisbury for two years and her team won a CAC Championship and the 2009 NCAA D3 National Championship.  She was a 3 year starter and a 4 year Varsity player at Broadneck High School where she graduated in 2009.  During her high school career she was named 2nd Team AllState, All-Metro, 1st Team All County, 1st Team Coaches All County and BHS Defensive MVP.  SHe played club hockey for SPark and attend the National Festival Tournament with Team Maryland.  She is currently an Assistant Varsity Coach at Broadneck High School.

KRISTIE BLUMER:
Coach Blumer graduated from Towson University with a bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Studies and minors in International Studies and in Spanish.  Kristie played Division 1 Field Hockey at Towson University.  She is currently an Environmental Scientist at PMT & Associates, Inc., an environmental consultimg firm.  Coach Blumer has been an Assistant Coach at Lock Raven High School, a Futures Club coach, a Jackals Club coach, a Tasmanian Devils Club coach, and also has coached for Olney Boys and Girls Club.

ASHLEY DALISERA:

CAROLYN CABREY:
Coach Cabrey began her field hockey career playing with Mystx and WC Eagles and continued playing at Lafayette College from 2008-2012.  At Lafayette she was a 4 year starter and 4 time All Patriot League selection as well as a 2 time Regional Mid-East All-American.  She helped lead Lafayette to a Patriot League Championship for the 1st time in 10 years in 2011 and was named the MVP.  In 2012, she received the Charles L. Albert Award for the Most Outstanding Senior Female Athlete at Lafayette.  Coach Cabrey was a member of the US National Indoor Team from 2011-2014.  She was a part of the tour to Argentina in March 2013 where they beat Argentina.  In 2013, she also played in the Womens National Championships for team Midwest/California.  Presently she plays recreationally in Georgetown. Coach Cabrey currently works at Georgetown Hospital as a Medical Assistant with aspirations to go to Physician Assistant School.  She recently finished a Graduate Assistantship at Central Michigan University with the field hockey program.  She has coached numerous camps including Lafayette, UVA, ODU and University of Delaware and has also coached club for True North and Philly Hockey Club in the past. Coach Cabrey loves to see the game of field hockey growing and hopes to instill passion and loyalty to the game in young players. 

SAMI KISER
My name is Samantha Kiser and I am a recent graduate from the University of Oregon.  I played Division 1 lacrosse for 4 years and was named captain my senior year.  Yes I said lacrosse not field hockey, that was not a typo, but dont get me wrong I missed it!  I did howerever play field hockey at Severna Park High School for 4 years and was also named captain my senior year.  I played on 3 State Championship teams at SP.  I was a member of SPark for 6 years where I helped coach in 2009.  I am a firm believer of mixing hard work and fun into my coaching so I guarantee we will have a great season!
  

MEGHAN DEAN
Coach Dean began her field hockey career in Upstate NY where she participated in her school and club leagues.  She lettered in field hockey at Marathon Central High four times.  The Olympians suffered just two losses during her career, including undefeated and state championship winning seasons in 2002 and 2003, while adding another in 2006.  With Marathon, she was also a four time IAC Division Champion, sectional and regional champion.  Meghan led the Olympians in scoring in her final 2 years, garnering First Team NFHCA All Amerian status each of those seasons. She was awarded Second Team All American in 2004 and was a 3 time State All Star, Section IV All Star and NFHCA All Region pick.  Coach Dean participated in USFHA Futures tournament from 2003-06.  She was selected to the US U19 Futures Holland Tour in 2006. Coach Dean was then named to the US U21 National team in 2006 and travelled to China.  She tied for the lead on the US Junior Squad with 2 goals on that tour. She helped the U21 team to first place at the 2006 CanAm Challenge and was member of the USFHA HPC Maryland Thundersticks in 2006 and 2008.  Coach Dean played Division 1 field hockey at the University of Maryland, College Park.  While there, she was a NCAA National Champion in 2008,2009 and 2011. Coach Dean was named to the Academic All ACC squad and the NFHCA National Academic squad.  In 2010, Coach Dean was the recipient of NCAA Elite 88 award and named to the National Academic Team.  This award is provided to the player with the highest overall GPA at the NCAA Final Four Tournament.  Coach Dean continues to share her experience with aspiring athletes and is the current JV Head Coach at Severn School (2012-present) and is excited to also work with aspiring athletes in the SPark program.


DENISE ERLANDSON
Coach Erlandson has been coaching field hockey for county recreation leagues for 8 years at various levels. She played field hockey for River Dell Senior High in New Jersey at the varsity level for 4 years.  Denise has been playing in the Anne Arundel County Summer League since her move to Maryland in 1995. She also  plays adult co-ed floor hockey with Arundel Floor Hockey.  Currently Coach Erlandson is an engineering project manager at Ronald W.
