USA Field Hockey Tournaments

 

USA Field Hockey tournaments that SPark participates in annually include: the National Hockey Festival, the Disney Field Hockey Showcase, and the NIT Qualifiers and the National Indoor Tournament.

National Indoor Tournament

Our goal is to have teams qualify for and attend the National Indoor Tournament in March.  In 2011, SPark had a record 4 teams qualify for NITs.  We also sent a U14 team and a Boys team to NITs.  In order to earn a spot in the National Indoor Tournament, teams must attend an Indoor Qualifier tournament.  The number of U19 teams that will earn a spot in the National Indoor Tournament from a qualifier has increased to the top 30% of the teams that enter. The U16 teams will continue to send the top 25% to the National Indoor Tournament. This ensures that the best teams advance to the premier indoor tournament of the year. The U19 National Indoor Tournament will be held in Virginia Beach, March 2-4, 2012 with the U14 and U16 National Indoor Tournament being held a week after, March 9-11, 2012 in Richmond, VA. The qualification process for U14 teams will be on a first come, first serve basis.  In 2011/12, All SPark U16 and U19 teams will attend qualifier tournaments.  SPark will also apply to send 1 U14 team.  Players for the U14 team are selected based on their performance during the indoor season.

 

National Hockey Festival

USA Field Hockey's National Festival is the largest amateur field hockey

Tournament in the world drawing over 3,500 players from around the world.  The Festival attracts over 100 college coaches and is an excellent opportunity for our players.  In 2011, Festival will be held in Phoenix, AZ.  USA Field Hockey has selected Palm Beach County and the International Polo Club to host the 2012 and 2013 National Hockey Festival. The National Hockey Festival begins on Thanksgiving Day every year.  SPark is sending 1 U19 team to compete in Nov. 2011.

 

Disney Showcase Tournament

The Disney Field Hockey Showcase will take place on February 8-12, 2012 in Orlando Florida.   The Disney Field Hockey Showcase is a premier USA Field Hockey event.  It brings over 140 teams from all over the United States to compete on 17 different fields in sunny Orlando, Florida.  Top college coaches from around the nation attend this event.  SPark will be sending 1 U16 team and 1 U19 team to compete in Feb. 2012.
